ラ･シュフは1982年8月27日に醸造がスタートし、いまや世界シェアの有名ブランドとなっています。
かつてベルギーでは“シュフ”と呼ばれる小さな妖精たちが妖精の谷で美味しいビールを造り、ベルギー全国に届けていました。しかし、いつしかその谷は消え、しかたなく人間たちは自分の手でビールを造ることになりました。
ときどき人間の世界に来ていたノーム（妖精）の一人であるマルセルは、シュフたちがかつて美味しいビールを造っていた場所で、ビールを造ろうとしている2人の兄弟に偶然出会いました。マルセルはその兄弟を助けようと、ずっと昔に消えてしまった妖精のビールのレシピを教えることにしました。そして、そのおかげで再び人間の世界で妖精の谷からのビールを楽しむことができるようになったのです。
ラ・シュフは金色のビールで、1982年に2人の青年によって美しいアルデンヌ地方の小さな小屋で造られ、ベルギーで最初のクラフトビールと呼ばれています。新鮮なコリアンダーとフルーティーな風味を掛け合わせ、かすかにホップの味がします。アロマのスパイシーさは、胡椒を思い出す後味にも感じられます。8％と高いアルコール度数ですが、強すぎる感覚はなく、むしろ爽やかなビールです。
Little gnomes called “Chouffe” used to brew delicious beer in the Valley of the Fairies, enough to supply the whole of Belgium. Over time the brewery disappeared mysteriously and the humans were forced to brew their own beer. Marcel, one of the gnomes who still visited the human world from time to time met 2 brothers-in-law trying to brew beer at the exact same spot where the little Chouffes used to make their delicious liquid. The little gnome decided to help them by telling them the recipe from the long vanished beer. Yet again, the human world can enjoy the beers from the Valley of the Fairies!
The golden colored La Chouffe can be called the first Belgian Craft Beer as it has been created in a small shack in the beautiful Ardennes region by 2 friends as early as 1982. It has a slight hoppy taste, combining notes of fresh coriander and fruity tones. The spiciness in the nose can also be found in the peppery aftertaste. Although topping at 8% alcohol, the beer never feels too heavy and is rather refreshing.
