1899–Old Tom is born
As the old brewery cat, Tom basked in the sunshine our head brewer, Alfred Munton sketched him into immortality. Old Tom was first brewed on Wednesday 1st November.

A birthday dedicated to Old Tom drinkers everywhere
There is no doubt that our rich and malty ale has touched the lips of thousands of Stopfordians and beyond, finding its place across many family homes and cosy pub corners. To celebrate this milestone and recognise the heritage and loyalty of Old Tom’s drinkers, we’re dedicating this momentous birthday to all Old Tom drinkers across our home counties.
ロビンソンの醸造所の猫にちなんで名付けられたオールドトムは、醸造所自体とほぼ同じくらいの歴史があります。国内外で最も有名なストロングエールの1つとして知られ、ワールドベストエールなど、業界で最も権威のある賞をいくつも受賞しています。
オールドトムは、チェリーブランデーのような色と特徴を持ち、濃厚で温かみのあるビールです。このストロングエールは、熟した麦芽と胡椒の効いたホップが、ローストしたナッツとチョコレートの風味とスモーキーなコクと組み合わさった、力強いバランスのビールです。独特の深みのあるポートワインのような後味で、ホップの苦味とダークフルーツの濃厚でワインのような香りが調和しています。
Named after Robinsons' brewery cat, Old Tom is almost as old as the brewery itself. It is recognised, both nationally and internationally, as one of the most famous strong ales, winning some of the industry’s most prestigious awards including World’s Best Ale.
Old Tom is dark, rich and warming with a cherry brandy like colour and character. This strong ale has a booming balance of ripe malt, and peppery hops combined with roasted nut and chocolate flavours with a smoky richness. A distinctive deep port wine finish with bitter hops balance complemented by heady, vinous aromas of dark fruit.
オールド トムは、醸造所自体と同じくらい古い歴史を持っています。「元祖クラフトビール」と呼ばれるこの危険なほど飲みやすい伝説のビールは、1899 年に醸造所の老猫トムが醸造長によってスケッチされて不滅になったときに誕生しました。
Old Tom is almost as old as the brewery itself. Dubbed ‘The original craft beer’ this dangerously drinkable legend was born in 1899, when Tom, the old brewery cat, was sketched into immortality by the head brewer.
